Mardi Himal Trek

Mardi Himal Trek - 10 Days

Fantastic Mardi Himal Trek is located just east of one of the most legendary trekking destinations of Nepal. Mardi Himal Trek can be one of the magnificent treks for any trekkers. The Mardi Himal Trek is an ideal choice for those of us who are looking for an ‘off the beaten path’ trekking experience in the quieter parts of the Annapurna region of Nepal. It is the lowest and perhaps the least visited of the trekking peaks in Nepal. Situated just east of one of the most popular treks of Nepal, the Annapurna Base Camp trek, the Mardi Himal trek is a hidden gem. Few trekkers make their way to the Mardi Himal Base Camp spectacularly situated at the base of Mardi Himal and the impressive Machhapuchhre. The landscape changes quite abruptly into a rugged high mountain landscape, with amazing views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchare, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

Mardi Himal Trek blesses hikers with an overwhelming adventure. You will love the attractive views of the snow-capped peaks of the Annapurna region. Passing through the green hills, you will have the most beautiful memories. The natural beauty of the landscapes is immensely dispersed throughout the region. Going through the traditional villages of Gurung and witnessing the Buddhist culture is truly wonderful. The warm hospitality of the villagers of villages such as Kande, Pothana, Siding, Deurali, etc. is truly remarkable. This wonderful trip takes you to 4,500 meters above sea level to display the wonderful landscapes. Low Camp, Forest Camp, High Camp and Mardi Himal Base Camp are amazing places.

Day to Day Itinerary

An airport representative will be there to pick you up from the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. We take a short drive from the airport to our hotel. After a short rest, we can introduce ourselves to each other and discuss more about the trek. In the evening, we have Nepalese cuisine at a welcome dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.

After early breakfast in the morning, we leave for Pokhara, also known as the City of Lake due to the large number of lakes in the city. Upon our arrival in Pokhara after 30 30-minute flight, we are rewarded with magnificent views of the Himalayas. After lunch in Pokhara, we drive to Dhampus for around 2 hours. Dhampus trekking is situated north of Pokhara Valley which offers wonderful views of mountains, natural landscape and internal silence. Different classes of birds in the village of Dhampus are populated and welcomed by the Gurung committee. After arriving at Dhampus we take a rest for a while and start our journey again. The trail further winds through the rhododendron forest to the mountain pass called ‘Deurali’. Deurali is overlooking the Modi Khola valley wedged between Annapurna South and Mardi Himal / Mt Fishtail. Overnight in Deurali.

After spending the beautiful morning in the ridge-top village of Deurali, we head off the main Annapurna trekking trail and follow the forested ridge to Low Camp. The day’s walk in the rhododendron forest is beautiful with a gradual uphill. The view of Mt Fishtail and Mardi Himal appears much closer. You find yourself closer to a clear blue sky with a view of layers of Himalayan foothills and a sweeping valley towards the south before reaching Low Camp. Overnight in Low Camp.

The trail then climbs along the ridge towards Mardi Himal and Mt Fishtail. From Badal Danda, we leave the tree line and arrive at an alpine bush. The snow-capped peaks of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Fishtail rise above a deep valley. High Camp is a small pasture that you will discover once you arrive. Here you are above the clouds and closer to the snowy peaks. Overnight in High Camp.

On our journey to the Upper View Point, we ascend and descend, on a steep and narrow path. Our trail passes through the pastures and we walk along a narrow ridge before reaching the Upper View Point. The view of the Himalayas from here is amazing. We see Mardi Himal (5587m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Baraha Shikhar (Mt. Fang) (7647m), Tent Peak (5695m), Singhachuli (6501m), Machhapuchhre ( 6993m) and others. We walk back to the high camp for the night. Night in High Camp.

Even though the scenery is stationary, sunlight makes it different and interesting. Spend another morning watching the change that the sunrays bring. Walk down to forest camp after breakfast. Night in Forest Camp.

Trek from Forest Camp to Australian Base Camp takes approximately 4 hours. The trail passes through Pothana and Deurali. Trek will consist of ascents as well as descents in some places and passing through beautiful rhododendron, and oak forests. While you are here, there is not much of a view. However, you get to enjoy the forest and the quietness. There will likely be very few other travellers there. However, once you get up, the whole Annapurna range spreads out in front of you.

We wake up early in the morning to see the sunrise and beautiful Himalayas view. After that, we have breakfast at the and hike down from Australian Camp to Phedi via Dhampus village. The trail is down from Australian Camp to Phedi and drives back to your Hotel in Pokhara. We may also stroll in the streets of Pokhara and just enjoy being in one of the most beautiful cities of Nepal. Overnight in Pokhara.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to the beautiful northern horizon of Pokhara and head towards Kathmandu. After arriving in Kathmandu, we take a break or do some souvenir shopping. To celebrate the successful completion of our trip, we will have a farewell dinner at night. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Our adventure in Nepal comes to an end today. Our airport representative will take you to the airport approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight.
